I was thankful i actually got to enjoy one of their concerts, there will never be a dupilcate It had been awhile since i heard the Highwaymen and after listening to this CD went ahead and ordered a DVD.
It has other songs on it that I've never heard before but decided to put on my IPOD anyway. Guess they see something in him that I don't.
Really listen to the songs, especially like desperado's waiting for a train. He's just your normal average joe while the other three are top of the line guys.
Don't just listen to the hit "Highwayman". I've never been a fan of Kris Kristofferson(sp)and wondered why the others included him into their songs.
It's an interesting song. That's actually the reason I bought it but as I was doing other things in the house I decided to just listen to the whole album.
With the exception of one or two of the songs, most of it is really good.
Their work as a group was a gimmick, and it shows. There are certain performances by each of these men that I NEVER get tired of hearing, but put these superstars together and the result itself seems a bit tired. As with "The Traveling Willburys" it is the original studio recordings of the members alone that will live on, not their couple of attempts to sell themselves as a supergroup. I love Kris, Willie, Johnny and Waylon, and I liked several of their collaborations when they were fresh recordings. Hearing this collection was pleasant enough, but somehow the sum of the parts is not the equal of the works of the individual members.
Even if you like modern country this is a staple of any country collection. A classic album.
every song is great and this cd, anyone would want to listen to over and over again.
